HAPPY OCTOBER!!!! It's finally spooky season! :D October is one of my most favorite months of the year. I'm currently sitting at my dining table, with my headphones in listening to a spooky Haunted Mansion ambiance video as I type this! haha! This month is going to be sooo crazy for me! I have lots of fun things planned & a ton of work to do. Trying not to let myself feel overwhelmed but I'm already feeling it just thinking about all the things! I think I struggle little more because I have BAD FOMO in ALL the things and I want to do EVERYTHING & share everything with y'all. And on top of that I feel like I should be able to do it all on my own. I tend to get in a bad cycle of feeling so overwhelmed that I shut down and actually hardly accomplish anything I planned. 🙈 I'm sure I'm not the only one who deals with that. I'm trying to get better at realizing what I actually can accomplish & also delegating things but it's a struggle. haha! But anyway!! Let's get into all the best sellers for September! *Thank you for your support! I make a small commission when items are purchased through my links at no additional cost to you! ♡ Shop the links below 1. Time & Tru Chelsea boots THE Walmart boots of the fall season!! These are seriously sooo good!! They are really comfortable, I wear them all the time! I think they fit a little big for how this brand normally fits. I got an 8 (I'm normally an 8.5), These exact ones are sold out right now online but they are in stores! I linked a few similar ones as well. 2. Reversible Shacket LOVEEE this reversible shacket!!! Whoever thought of this is a genius!! It's literally 2 shackets for the price of one!! Such a good deal. One side is corduroy and the other is a cozy fleece. I would suggest sizing up at least one size. I tried both the small & medium and the sleeves on the small were a little too short. It's currently sold out on Walmart.com but I found a few others that look identical or are similar! 3. Wool Blend Shacket This shacket is such a good deal!! I haven't seen a wool shacket this good of quality & at this price range! It's a wool blend so it's pretty warm & thick! I sized up to a medium for a more oversized fit. It's currently sold out online but I linked a few others that that are similar that I also love. 4. Skeleton graphic tee This skeleton tee is sooo adorable!! I love how oversized and comfy it is. I've been wearing it at least once a week! Sometimes more! haha! I got a s/m. It looks cute on it's own but even cuter with a shacket in my opinion! :) 5. No Boundaries mom jeans THE Walmart jeans!!!! These are seriously soooo good! I can't believe that they are only $18! Everyone always compliments them and asks me where I got them! :D They are currently sold out online but they are in stores! I got a size 3. I sized up 1 size from my normal size in women's. 6. Wild Fable shacket Another great shacket!! haha!! I can't stop buying shackets... it's so bad, especially because it's still in the 90s here in FL. haha!! I got a small in this one and it's pretty oversized. It comes in several other colors & I linked a few other shackets that are similar. :) 7. Men's flannel button up shirt This men's button up is so soft, comfy and only $10. I sized up to a medium and it's pretty oversized (obviously being men's sizes haha!) But I will say, I bought the black one I linked below in an XS and it shrunk up a bit on me in the wash and now the sleeves are too short to wear it as a shirt! So I would definitely size up. 8. Time & Tru shacket This shacket is such nice quality and at such a good price!! It's soft & the inside is lined! It fits oversized but I sized up a size to a small. (I'm normally an XS in this brand) It also comes in a pretty green color! 9. Universal Threads skinny jeans Loving these jeans!! I've been wearing these a lot lately. I think they fit true to size for this brand. I'm wearing a 2. 10. Time and Tru cozy wrap This wrap feels like wearing a barefoot dreams blanket!! (Although I've never actually felt a Barefoot Dreams blanket haha! but I do have a couple dupe blankets and they feel like those!) It comes in tons of different colors & patterns. I linked a ton of them below. I've also seen them in stores! love y'all!! XO, Mal

Well, I tried my best to hold onto summer but all the new fall fashion got me in fall mode a little early this year! --even though it's still 90 degrees here in Florida! haha! Actually only one thing was from Target. :) Sharing all the best sellers during the month of August below. I make a small commission when items are purchased through my links at no additional cost to you! ♡ QUICK SHOP THE BEST SELLERS BELOW 1. TIME & TRU LUG BOOTS These are sooooooo good!!! I will be wearing these ALL fall and winter. Usually I feel like I need to see what Target has to offer, but with these boots, I don't even care about Target's version! haha! I think the boots run a little big this year. I'm normally an 8-8.5 and I got an 8 and can easily wear socks with them. :) They come in 3 colors and I just ordered the black ones! 2. MEN'S FLANNEL SHIRT This shirt comes in tons of colors and is really soft & comfy. I love the length, it's perfect to wear with leggings, I sized up to a medium but it's pretty oversized. I had to roll the sleeves a bit since they are so long. 3. MOM JEANS I've been wearing these pretty much everyday!! I cannot believe how great they are. They fit well, they are comfy, and best of all they are only $18! If you bought last year's version, these are WAY better. The butt is more flattering and they don't stretch out really bad like the ones from last year. I sized up 1 size from my normal size in women's, I"m wearing a 3! (I'm normally a 2).. 4. TIME & TRU SHACKET This shacket fits oversized. I am wearing a medium in this picture but ended up exchanging it for a small. (Med was the only size available when it first came online for some reason but I had to get my hands on it!!) It's fairly lightweight and feels really well made! I'm super impressed. It also comes in green! 5. TIME & TRU BOOTIES I cannot believe these are only $15!!! They come in several colors too. They feel well made, are comfy and obviously super cute!! Definitely a must have for fall!! I'm wearing an 8, (I'm normally and 8-8.5) 6. QUILTED JACKET LOVEEE this jacket!! I just wish it was cool enough to wear it here in FL!! Maybe I live in the wrong state! haha! I actually sized up one size to a small. I still can't decide which color I like best!! My hubby voted for the pink, but I also love the yellow!! It comes in tons of colors! 7. MEN'S CREWNECK SWEATSHIRT LOVE LOVE LOVE this sweatshirt!! It's one of my go-to's. It's perfect with leggings and I love that it's French Terry & not too hot. I sized up to a small and cut the collar out of the other one I have! I have a video on my instagram reels that shows how I do it! 8. SNEAKERS These sneakers are so cute! I want them in all the colors!! They don't come in half sizes, so I ordered the 8 and the 9. The 8 was a little too small so I ended up keeping the 9. I would say they fit true to size. They are comfy and cute! I wear them. out to run errands and around the house when I'm cleaning. 9. WOOL BLEND SHACKET This shacket is more fitted than most shackets I've tried on so I'm glad I sized up to a small. It's definitely thicker than the other shacket in this post. I just loooveee the sage green color!! It also comes in 3 other colors that are really pretty too! 10. TIME & TRU SWEATSHIRT THE time & Tru sweatshirt is back and WAY better than last years!!! :D These are softer and a little more oversized than the ones from last year. • ☀DIY boho straw bag

I've been wanting to get back to my DIY roots & I thought this fun summer bag would be the perfect start! It's stylish, affordable & super simple to make! You'll look adorable & original strutting around with it on vacay this summer! I've seen this adorable straw belt bag being toted around by a few influencers and fell in LOVE with it but it's $88!!! I scoured the internet for DAYS trying to find a similar one at a better price point, but couldn't find anything! So, I decided to try & make my own!! But then I totally caved and purchased the original when it finally came back in stock! 🙈 haha!! It's totally adorable, but it barely holds anything! It looks like it should've cost $10. :( After all of that, I finally made this DIY version & now I want to return the original one! haha! It's sooo easy to diy & makes such a cute statement piece!! WHAT YOU'LL NEED: ∙straw bag (I used this one) ∙seashells (I used these) ∙glue sticks ∙glue gun WHAT TO DO: 1.) I started by picking out 12 seashells and laying them out on to the flap of my bag until I liked how they looked.. I tried to group similar sized seashells together for each grouping. I did 4 groupings of 3 shells. 2.) I filled the back of a seashell with hot glue and then firmly pressed it onto the bag while it cooled. I did that for all 12 shells!! And that's it!! *I also tied a knot in the strap to shorten it up a bit but feel free to wear yours longer if you prefer! SUPER simple & totally not worth $88 for the original! haha! I made a little DIY video too! :) If you recreate this bag I would LOVE to see it!! Pease dm me a pic or tag me!! :D XO, Mal

  • Disney tips & must do's: Hollywood Studios✨

Finally getting around to typing up the 2nd blog post in my Disney World tips & must do's series! My first one was about Magic Kingdom, it's linked here, if you missed it! Hollywood Studios is definitely the most popular Disney World park right now! There's so many new things at Hollywood Studios :D Star Wars Galaxy's Edge, Toy Story Land, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway & the Skyliner!! One of my favorite things about Hollywood Studios is the old Hollywood vibe & the old music they play when you walk down Hollywood & Sunset Boulevard! Star Wars Galaxy's Edge is so cool!! It's definitely a must see. There's plenty to walk around and see even if you aren't going to ride the rides. They have shops & you can even build your own droid & lightsaber. Toy Story Land is a pretty small area and always seems super crowded but it's definitely a must see even if you don't plan to ride any rides. It's like you are in Andy's backyard and are the size of a toy! It's adorable!! I love that everything is oversized. Look for Andy's foot prints on the ground! The Skyliner is Disney's new, free transportation system. It's so much fun to ride. You can get on the Skyliner right outside of Hollywood Studios. We usually ride it to Epcot to park hop but it will also take you to some of the hotels nearby. Tips: 1.) Plan for only getting to ride a few things. In my opinion HS seems to be the hardest park to be able to ride all of the rides in one day. It feels like most of the rides are big ticket attractions that have long lines. I know I'm listing pretty much all of the rides at Hollywood Studios but realistically you will most likely only get to ride a handful of them if it's crowded. I used to go to Disney World wanting to do ALL THE THINGS in one day and honestly it's just not a realistic mindset to have and it makes for a stressful Disney day. My best advice, learned the hard way-- pick a few must do rides and expect to only be able to do those & if you get to ride more then that's great!! Not to be negative in anyway, but I know what it's like to feel stressed & disappointed when I didn't get to ride something I expected to and it's not fun. Just don't let it ruin your trip! **Try to get there before the park opens for rope drop! You'll have a better chance at riding more rides while everyone else is sleeping in. 2.) Star Wars Rise of the Resistance is a virtual line only! In my experience, has been hard to get into the virtual line. I talk about it more in depth below. But this one is unlike pretty much any other Disney ride because there's no stand by line like all of the other rides in the parks. I want to make sure you know that before you go so you don't get side swiped when you get there & try to hop in line. 3.) Mobile ordering is the way to go! I pretty much always mobile order now! It's so much easier & you don't have to stand in the lines. My top picks at Hollywood Studios Food: (this isn't the full list of places to eat!) ∙The Trolley Car Cafe Starbucks!! haha :D (FYI: you can get a cup of ice water for free!!) I always like to stop in for a caffeine boost or to get some water. People always rave about the carrot cake cookie but I haven't tried it yet! ∙Docking Bay 7 They have sooo many options and it's so cool inside the restaurant. They have a lot of places to sit. They also have an allergy friendly menu with something for pretty much everyone! I tried their dessert, the "Batuu-bon", and it was yummy!! My friend got the "Felucian Kefta & hummus garden spread", I can't remeber if I tried a bite or not but she said it was pretty good! ∙50's Prime Time Cafe I love the nostalgia of this pace! You'll love it if you're an old soul like me. :) This place is super fun because it is highly themed! The servers are in even character! I didn't eat all of my food and my server gave me a hard time about it, like you always see in old movies! haha! It's all in good fun though & she didn't take it too far. I've heard if you go to the bathroom, when you come back your server will ask you what color the soap was! lol!! The food is pretty good too! The have a bunch of old classics. I got the meatloaf and wasn't disappointed! Below is a picture of how it looks inside. The tv's are all playing old black and white tv shows! ∙Backlot Express Nothing fancy, but it's one of the cheapest places to eat. It's my go to when I want something fast, affordable & filling. I like to get the kids chicken tender meal! ∙Milk Stand (in Galaxy's Edge) Did you even go to Galaxy's Edge if you didn't try the blue or green milk?! The non-alcoholic blue milk is my fave! It has a yummy sweet tart flavor. Both flavors are plant based and dairy free- and kinda pricey, but worth it to try in my opinion! :) ∙Ronto Roaster's I haven't eaten here but we usually stop by and get a free cup of ice water. It's a pretty neat little spot though & definately at least worth checking out to see the cool droid they have in there. ∙Oga's Cantina (in Galaxy's Edge) I actually havent been inside because it can be hard to get into. You arent allowed to go in just to look around (you can book a reservation on the disney app). I've heard from some friends that it's really neat inside! I know that they have a few fun non alcoholic drinks on the menu that I want to try! (They have several alcholic too). I'm hoping to go on my next trip! ∙Sci-Fi Dine in restaurant I wana go here sooo bad!!! I snuck inside one time!! haha! It's so cute! It looks like you are outside at a drive in movie. Your booth is actually an old car!!! I've heard that the food isn't that good though. :( You are more paying for the experience. I'm still going to check it out for myself one of these days! You can book a reservation on the Disney park app! Rides: (in order-ish) This is sooo hard!!!! There's so many good rides at HS and they are all good for different reasons! None of these rides are bad, so just because it's at the bottom of the list don't feel like it's not good. It's just sooo hard to choose. :) ∙Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway Seriously the cutest ride EVER!!! I love it so much!! I'm not going to share too much about it because you just need to experience it for yourself! This one is 100% worth the wait in my opinion. **My tips- I would either ride this ride first thing, or you can wait until the end of the night and get in line before park closing! They let everyone in line go through as long as you got in line before the park closes. In my experience, it does tend to have techincal difficulties at times, so if you don't want to chance it, you might just try to ride it first thing. ∙Star Wars Rise of the Resistance ( in Galaxy's Edge) One of the coolest, most immersive rides EVER!! You literally feel like you are inside the movies!!! This ride has a virtual queue line only! You HAVE to get in the virtual queue line (a boarding group) through the myDisney app to be able to ride it. As of right now you can log into the app at 7 am and 1 pm to try and snag a place in line. In my experience the tickets go so fast. You literally have to be on your app at 7 am because the tickets often get taken before 7:01 am! For the 1 pm ticket distribution you must be inside the park. You'll then get a boarding group number and have a time slot to come back & be able to hop in line. You can read more about it here. There's a tiny sneak peek below!! :D ** My experince has been that this ride tends to have more technial difficulties than most rides, so you might get stuck in line a little longer than you expected...but honestly it's worth it. If you were lucky enough to snag a boarding pass I wouldn't get out of line! I would totally wait it out. ∙ToyStory Mania I used to always skip this ride but it's so much fun!! You shoot at targets inside a ride vehicle & I'm totally the reigning champion!! :P haha! ∙The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror For the longest time I was too scared to ride this!! I HATE drop rides, but I'm telling you, this is unlike any drop ride out there!! It's super fun and totally one of my fave rides at Disney World! It's more like a bouncy drop ride if that makes any sense at all! haha! You've gotta put your hands up too!! It's so much more fun. I love the old creepy hotel vibe of the queue line too! My hubby thinks this is the most hilarious picture ever LOL (we are in the bottom left). ∙Rockin' Rollercoaster This is currently the only ride that really feels like a legit rollercoaster at Disney World! It's really fun and is the only rollercoaster that goes upside down in all the parks! It usually has a single rider line too. ∙Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run (in Galaxy's edge) Such a fun interative ride! Everyone has a part to play. Being the gunner or the pilot are the best in my opinion because you get to do the most during the ride. ∙Slinky Dog Dash Cute little kiddie coaster! The queue line is super cute! It looks like you are in Andy's backyard and are the size of a toy! ∙Muppets Vision 3D You sit inside a 3D theater and watch a muppets show with special effects! It's cute if you like The Muppets. ∙Star Tours It's a fun 3D Star Wars ride outside of Galazy's Edge & it's line ususally isn't too long at all! ∙Alien's Swirling Saucers (I actually haven't had a chance to ride this one yet!) I hope this was helpful!!! If you have an upcoming Disney trip I hope you have the best time!! :D I'd love to hear from you if you have questions! xo, Mal

  • DISNEY tips & must do's: Magic Kingdom✨

One of my most asked questions on IG is for Disney tips. Ya'll are always asking me what are the top things to do, see and eat! I wouldn't call myself a Disney pro, but since moving to FL and having an annual pass for about 5 years now I have learned A LOT!! I've learned so much from friends that have lived in FL all their lives, from one of my fave Youtube channels DisneyFoodBlog and from the experience of being blessed to be able to go so often. I want to put a plug in here to say that I don't take getting to go to Disney World so often lightly either! The first time I went to Disney World was when I was 21. Growing up I watched all of the movies, knew the songs by heart, dressed up as my favorite princesses and had several books and toys but we never could afford to go. When I was a kid my mom always talked about saving up for a trip to Disney World. She had a milk jug she would add her change to. I remember the excitement and hope of saving up and ✨one day✨ going on a magical trip together. Getting to go to Disney World was this HUGE thing in our house- like one of THE coolest things you could ever do in your life. For me, it was always this dream that seemed so far off but that I was still always so excited about. Thinking back to that time and how my life is now, it makes me feel so thankful and makes me tear up! Flash forward to being deployed in Iraq- I saved up a big portion of my salary and decided that I was going to take my family to Disney World since we had never been able to afford to go. I was able to take my mom, step dad, little sister and my boyfriend, at the time, now my hubby. (He paid his own way of course! haha.) We had such a magical time. It was such a special thing for me to be able to help make my mom's dream come true. 🥺 I also went with my best friend since 6th grade and her family not too long after my first trip. It was so fun to experience Disney with her and her family. Now here I am living in FL with an annual pass to Disney World. That same best friend lives here in FL too and she's who I always go with! We talk about how our teen selves would've freaked out if they knew what the future held for us! 🥰 Okayyyy so let's start with one of my BEST secrets that I've never heard anyone else talk about!! 1. Try to get a breakfast reservation before the park opens! I never even knew this was a thing until I was planning a birthday trip for my niece. She loves Beauty and The Beast so I wanted to get a reservation for us at The Be Our Guest restaurant (that's the only way to see inside The Beast's Castle). It's a pretty expensive restaurant but the plan was to just get a Grey Stuff cupcake and eat it in the Ballroom (YES a replica of THE BALLROOM from Beauty and The Beast!) I saw a reservation for the restuarant BEFORE the park even opened so I snatched it uppp!! We got to the park, they scanned our breakfast reservation and let us in before anyone else. Talk about feeling super special!! :D It was really cool the see the park literally empty. We had a cupcake for breakfast and finished up about 20-30 min before the park opened. We hopped right in line for Seven Dwarves mine train- which back before all the new precautions, would have a wait time of 2 HOURS on the regular. We were able to ride it before the park even opened!! As we were headed over to Thunder Mountain, we literally saw the crowd of people coming into the park so we ran! haha! We literally got to ride all of the "big" rides before 11 am! It was amazing!! haha! 2. I never pay for water. You can get a free cup of ice at any place that has a fountain drink machine, and even at Starbucks (and you can get a venti!) Something I like to do in the summer to stay hydrated is get a venti water from Starbucks on my way out of a park, and drink all of it on my way to the next park (when I'm park hopping). You can also bring in a reusable water bottle or a plastic one! I just hate carrying around things. haha! The water fountains are closed right now but you could just ask for a water and fill it up throughout the day. 3. CHILL OUT! The fist time I went to Disney World I felt like I needed to get it all done in one day. But let me tell you from experience, trying to do that will only make your Disney trip kinda miserable. I understand the feeling though. The first time I went I felt like it was my ONLY CHANCE to see all the the things. I felt like we were just mad dashing around and stressing out about trying to see it all that we actually missed a lot! I've learned now that it's pretty much impossible to do everything at a park in one day. Unless you get super lucky and there's hardly anyone there. I suggest making a list of a handful of rides and must do's! (I shared my faves below). That way if you at least get those done you will be excited and if you are able to do more, then that's even more exciting! But that way you won't be feeling like your day was a let down because you had such high expectations. I've also always been one to only want to ride the thrill rides, but seriously ALL the rides and attractions at Disney World are good! Ones I thought were going to be boring were actually WAY better than I thought. Like the Country Bear Jamboree, it’s hilarious. The Enchanted Tiki Room is cool because it's one of the few rides left that Walt had a huge hand in! I also love the Carousel of Progress because I'm an old soul and I just love vintage things! So don't feel like you are missing out if you can't do all of the big, most popular rides. I know that Disney is expensive, but I've heard a lot of Disney pro's say that having a day or 2 extra in your vacation where you don't plan to go to the parks is the way to go. Especially if you have kids since the parks are typically hot, crowded and it's such a LONG day since you are trying to get as much in as you can. 4. Mickey Waffles You HAVE to get a Mickey waffle at least once in your life!! There's something magical about Mickey waffles. You can get mini mickey waffles at table service restaurants, but it's A LOT more expensive and you have to get a reservation which isn't always easy. My favorite place to get a Mickey waffle is from Sleep Hollow. It's a small little quick service place at the outskirts of Liberty Square. You order at a window and they have out door seating with some views of the castle! You can also get Mickey Waffles at the Grand Floridian Cafe as well (which is a table service restaurant but it’s really close to Magic Kingdom). That’s where the picture below is from. :) That Mickey latte. 😍 5. Save money on food When I eat at a quick service restaurant, I like to order a kids meal! They are cheaper and obviously have less food but I find that it works perfectly because I'm usually wanting to save room for some snacks anyways. You are also allowed to bring outside food into the parks. That can help you save even more money so you won't be tempted to buy extra snacks because they add up fast! 6. Get one last ride in My best tip for getting to ride one of the rides with the longer wait times, like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is to hop in line at the end of the night. You can get in line even 5 minutes before the park closes and still get to ride the ride! Also, my experience has been that the wait time is no where near what it says it is at night! 7. Extra time The shops and the ice cream parlor stay open about an hour or so later than when the park says it's closing! Browsing the shops or getting some ice cream is a great way to let the mad dash of people leave so you don't get stuck in a long line for the ferry or monorail. When I first had my pass, I went with a friend from church who had grew up going to Disney World. Before the park closed, we got ice cream, sat on the hub grass facing the castle and ate our ice cream. It was so magical and sooo much nicer than standing in line with the crowd trying to leave! 8. Extra magic for FREE One of my most favorite things about Disney World is all the attention to detail. That's part of why I say to chill out and slow down while you are there or you will miss sooo any cool little details. Some of my faves are the hidden mickeys on all the rides and around the parks. Keep your eyes open for Mickey icons (Mickey heads). Sometimes they are 3 flowers grouped together, a hidden mickey icon in a pattern, etc etc!! You can even ask one of the cast members before you get on the ride for some hints to find any hidden Mickeys! Another one of my favorite things to add some extra magic is to get sprinkled with some pixie dust! You can get glitter sprinkled on you by a fairy godmother in training for FREE!! I haven’t done it in awhile so I'm not 100% sure if it's available right now with all the precautions. (I'll have to try it on my next trip). last time I checked it was at Sir Mickey's behind the castle. You can get a free button to show off what you are celebrating at the ticket office before you enter the park - your birthday, wedding, or 1st visit! It's so fun to get a button and wear it on your birthday! It lets the cast members know so that they can celebrate with you! It will add a little extra magic to your day. The other question y'all always ask me is, what are my must do's & top picks for the parks! My top picks at Magic Kingdom (in order!) • 4-year Anniversary Blog/Insta Q&A

I CANNOT believe I started this blog and my Instagram page 4 years ago!! What a fun journey it has been. The ups and the downs! I also feel like I've learned and grown a lot in these 4 years. I thought it would be fun to do a blogging/influencing Q&A to celebrate! So, I asked y'all in my Instagram story what you want to know! :) I know some of y'all have been around since the beginning of my page and I hope you know how thankful I am for you! Several of yall truly feel like friends to me! Thank you for supporting my page over the years. Heres some pictures through the years! The basket was my first post! Q: How many hours a week do you spend doing this? A: I feel like the best way to answer this is to say my page is literally my lifestyle. LOL. But seriously, I pretty much am working all day. It takes much more time than it probably looks like it does. I think for me, part of the "problem" is that I just genuinely love what I'm doing so I hardly ever feel like I am working. From searching in stores, or online for things that catch my eye and new items, to creating a post about them. Getting dressed and ready, steaming the clothes that I'm going to try on, sometimes trying on several things until I have an outfit I'm happy with, snapping pics, editing them, trying to come up with a caption, and posting. Etc etc etc!! It's fun and I love it, but it's a lot!! I've also really had to learn to chill out and not be so critical of myself because that has been one the hardest part for me and makes things take up a lot more time! Q: Where did you even begin? / How do you even start?/ How did you get started? A: Seriously, just start!!! I know that's cliche and probably annoying to hear, BUT FOR REALS. I would start by deciding what it is that YOU love. What makes you happy, what do you spend a lot of time doing? What are your hobbies? What are you passionate about? I think what has made my page easy to keep up with over the years is that it's literally just things I do on a regular basis! I've always been into fashion and I've always been on a budget. So just start sharing what YOU love. Be yourself, be authentic and be grateful for the audience you do have. You are "influencing" the audience you have now! Everyone starts at 0 followers- or at least 1-2 when you tell your bestie or hubby they have to follow your new page! haha! You can't expect to grow a big following if you aren't bringing something of value to the table when you are first starting out! Right? People follow you when they see that your page adds value to their life. Q: What made you want to start this page? A: I was literally out sun-tanning on my back porch one day and I started thinking that maybe I should start a page to share all my affordable finds & DIYS. I've always been one to try and create “expensive“ looks on a budget- fashion, home decor, DIYS etc. I've always thought it was CRAZY that fashion bloggers would share a plain white t-shirt that cost $40!! WHO WOULD BUY THAT when you can get a perfectly good one at Walmart for $5?! I thought maybe I could be a voice for us regular people who cannot afford those price tags. I wanted to encourage girls like me to not feel ashamed for buying affordable clothing. ♡ I started thinking about what I would name my page, and literally CheapChicFinds came to my mind! I did a quick Google & Instagram search to make sure the name wasn't taken and then I created my page- that same day, outside on my pack porch and made my first post! :) Q: What are your lessons learned when working with affiliates? A: The first affiliate marking I ever used was with a company that paid per click-(per swipe up). It worked out well in the beginning but without sharing a long drawn out story- I just really wasn't happy with how it all worked. Now I use, RewardStyle which you get a small percentage of each sale. It has been a lot more consistent for me and I never feel like I'm getting "punished" when a certain item isn't loved by everyone. When you use PPC affiliate links the amount you are paid per click fluctuates based on sales. My experience just felt very wishy washy and I found myself feeling frustrated a lot when I used PPC links. Q: Do you ever buy stuff just to post and then return it? A: YES. That being said, I never initially buy something thinking-"oh I will just return this later". I buy things that I genuinely think are cute/pretty. I obviously have to return things more now since COVID precautions have closed down dressing rooms. I used to just try everything on at the stores and then buy the things I really loved. Nowadays, if I want to try something on for yall I obviously have to buy it. Most of the time when I'm returning things it's because I bought more than 1 size or color so that I have some options when I am trying things on. If I share a picture of me wearing things out and about then those aren't things that I will return. But when I do try ons at home, I will usually return a few of the pieces. Returning items for me stems from a place of not wanting to be wasteful. I grew up in normal/poorer home and some of that mentality has stuck with me. I feel guilty about having too many clothes A LOT of the time, especially if I feel like I'm not going to wear them. I will also give things away to friends & family that I know could use them. Q: Did your account grow faster once you started showing your face in stories/feed? A: It seems like it! I used to not show my face much because I never wanted to come off conceited, but more and more people started asking to see things on and I started sharing more pictures with me in the outfits! It seems that people really value a page when the person is real and relatable. My experience has been that the more I go live and show about me as a person rather than just a page of items at a store, it seems like people really enjoy the more personal aspects! Q: How did you start your affiliated links? Do you recommend doing what you do for extra money? A: I did not start using affiliate links until I hit 10k followers on Instagram. I really had no idea what they even were but a company reached out to me and that's how I started getting paid. That was about 2 years into starting my page. I then switched to RewardStyle and I really love working with them. I would definitely recommend it! It's been such a blessing in my hubby and I's life! Between my blog and my hubby working we've been able to pay off most of our debt and now having a savings fund to one day soon start a family! 🥰♡ Q: Is the way the page is now how you originally planned for it to be? A: In several ways yes. I've always wanted to have more of a lifestyle blog/page. I want to be able to share life lessons, recipes, travel tips, and just anything else I think will help others. It has definitely turned into that a bit more since I share a lot about my life in my story! I keep saying one day I'm going to have a cooking show! I definitely would love to have more little spinoffs of some of my passions! Q: Do you ever review products and give false reviews or are they your honest opinion? A: No. I really pride myself on being honest. I will say that I have learned the hard way not to commit to collabs with companies until after I have tried their products. I've always been picky about which brands I do collaborations with but I used to accept the collab offer and then get the products to try. Now (if it's a product I'm interested in and haven't tried before), I will tell the company that I would be willing to try their products first and if I love them then we can talk about a collab agreement! Q: Is it hard to not get to take social media breaks? Or how do you regulate that? A: Yes!! Mostly because I just love what I am doing. Even when I'm not "working" I love taking y'all along with me to Disney and sharing fun things I'm doing to bring some joy to my little space on IG. It can be hard because even when I'm not on social media I'm pretty much always thinking about what I want to share with y'all. I do try to breaks though. There will be days where I won't post as much and it's either because I'm trying to get caught up on tidying up the house, or just feel like taking it easy. When my hubby is home I try to be off my phone by at least 8-9 so we can have some quality time. Q: Tips & tricks on how to grow your IG following A: I"m going to be honest and say that I wish I knew the magical answer to this question. Over the years I have come to realize that everyone's page seems to grow differently and at different rates and times. I really haven't worried too much about the algorithm but I've heard it said that the algorithm wants you to use all the features a platform has to offer. So, that’s something I try to do. But I think these things below are more important than trying all the crazy ways to beat the algorithm. I think everyone wants a following but not everyone wants to put in the time, create a community and give back to others! 1. Consistency/Time One thing I always tell people when they ask me this question is that social media moves so quickly and if you aren't posting pretty much everyday people are going to forget about you. To go along with that, whatever it is that you are trying to bring to the table, you want people to think of you and your page when they think about whatever it is that you are trying to share with the world. That only happens when you post consistently. I hope that makes sense! Whatever you constantly share about is what people are going to remember about you! If you aren't posting consistently people are going to forget about you! If you summed up my page in a few words it would probably be, Walmart, Disney,Target & Dogs. What are things you want to be thought of about you? Are you posting about them consistently? Realize that it's not going to happen overnight. I've had my page for 4 years. I think what helped me keep going was that I've always tried to focus on being excited about helping even just a few people. I remember being excited when I had 10 followers, 30, 100, 200, 300... etc! You have to remember that you have an audience at this very moment. Do you appreciate them? Or are they not good enough because there aren't 1000s more of them? I think people can feel that whether you say it or not. Are you magically going to become a caring, genuine person with things to share when you have more followers? You have to start now with the following you do have. Like the old saying "Build it and they will come". 2. Bring value/ Be genuine Think of your skills/ passions and share them with the world! How can you help others? Are you funny? Crafty? Love baking? Love reading and writing? Whatever it is that you are an "expert" or at least passionate about, share it! Don't be afraid to let your personality shine through- that's how you will stand out! Don't be afraid to put yourself out there that's how you will find your "target audience". 3. Engage I also think it's really important to engage with people on IG/your blog. It's truly about people in the first place right?! You create relationships and trust when you interact with them. So respond to all your comments and answer your Dm's as best you can. Maybe you've heard the saying- "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." 4. Grow your photography & editing skills People want to look at pretty pictures! If you go back to the beginning of my page.. it's changed A LOT. lol!! Simply because I've been playing around with taking pictures and editing for 4 years now! I haven't watched a lot of videos, I've just been putting in the work of doing it "the wrong way" and finding better ways/ realizing how to do and make things look better. Look at the pictures/videos of people who inspire you. Don't copy them, but what is it about their pictures/videos that you like, that makes you want to watch them? Then in your own way work on that. Shoot in better lighting, play with a picture editor, etc etc. You don't need to be perfect but work to be better! Go back and look through my feed-(or look at the pics in the beginning of this post) you can see how it's evolved over time. It's not perfect today but it's a lot better and for me, it's exciting to see how far I've come! 5. Stay grateful For me, focusing on staying grateful has kept me feeling inspired and excited to share/post things! Focusing on what you don't have will only beat you down and hurt your creativity and confidence! 6. Don't compare Comparison is the thief of joy! Put your blinders on and just share what you love. If you have to unfollow pages or put them on mute, don't feel guilty for it! Your mental health is more important. I've had to do it before. Sometimes I feel bad about it, but there's just sooo many pages these days sharing Walmart & Target finds. I just can't look at them or I start to stress out about "copying" someone who shared something before I got a chance to, etc etc! I find that I feel the most free to be myself and creative when I'm not looking around at what everyone else is doing! I love this quote, "A flower doesn't think about competing with the flower next to it, it just blooms." Walk your own path and just let yourself bloom! Q: Do you always get tired of having to be "on" and people asking where you got stuff? A: I don't always feel like getting dressed up and taking pictures! I do like to lounge around the house with no make up and just chill out from time to time. Typically on days like that I just won't share an outfit photo, unless I have one that I took previously that I can share. Honestly, I never get tired of people asking where I got something. It's quite the opposite. I ALWAYS feel bad that I don't have the time to respond to everyone! I never want anyone to feel like I don't care. I truly feel like it's my job to help- that's why I created this page! Q: How did you decide to become a blogger? What do you need to be one? A: I really never decided to become a blogger. I never wanted to have a blog- more so because it seemed like everyone at the time was trying to start one and I'm not big on following the crowd. I just wanted to start an affordable finds page- not really a "blog". It's funny that it turned into what it is today because I was sooo adament about calling my page a website! haha I would say there really aren't any requirements other than you need to care about people, bring something of value to them and be consistent in sharing!! Just be you and start putting things out there! Q: How often do you go to stores to take pics? A: Weekly!! I just love shopping! haha Q: How do you get readers/ followers in the beginning? A: For me, this goes back to just being grateful for however many people are engaging on your page. (which isn't always easy!) And like I said before, if you are sharing things and bringing something of value, people will see it and they might even tag a friend! But truly, try not to get caught up in how many followers you have. I know it's probably annoying for me to say that because my page has grown BUT like I said before, in the beginning I focused on being grateful every step of the way. I always thought that it would be cool if my page grew bigger but I never let it make me feel ungrateful and discouraged as it was growing. I hope this was fun and helpful for you to read!! Thank you again for following along with me!! xo, Mal
