I'm so excited to finally share this new Disney movie night idea! It's been in the works for a while now! Last summer, I had an intern from a local Christian college, and she helped me come up with some of the ideas for this! It took me a while to think of a few more things to really get my vision to come together, but I’m really excited with how it all turned out! My bestie came over and helped me with the decorations and making all the food, and then we watched the movie together! :) As always, I made a big effort to make this unique and fun! I hope y’all enjoy it as much as we did!

Recipes:

I used to make this recipe all the time after we first got married! I forgot how easy and yummy it is! I will definitely be adding it back into the rotation! Here's the link for the recipe I followed. I changed it up and used chicken breast instead of thighs, left out the mushrooms, and used yellow potatoes instead of red. :)

1 can of crescent rolls

I followed this recipe, but just made them plain. It was a little time-consuming to braid them, but the outcome was totally worth it. After they cooled off a bit, I placed a few edible flowers on them to look like Rapunzel's hair!

•Pascal's caesar salad

I kept this super simple and bought a salad kit from the grocery store. Haha! Feel free to change this up to be your fave side salad or veggie! I think green beans would go good! I just thought the menu needed something green, and salad sounded good at the time! Haha

•floating lantern lemonade

I had planned on making a purple lemonade recipe from Pinterest, but my local grocery store had blackberry lemonade that was the perfect color! I also added in some edible glitter, bc why not?! To make them glow, I bought these drink lights and stuck a couple in the middle of the ice! It took a couple of tries to get them to stay; they kept wanting to drop to the bottom of the glass. My tip is, the more ice, the better!

•sun sourdough bread

My bestie had her hubby draw a sun, and then she painted it on a loaf of sourdough bread! It turned out so cool! It wasn't originally part of the menu, but she surprised me with it, and it was too fun not to share!

I used this recipe, but just put enough raw cookie dough to fill a small 6 1/2 inch cast iron skillet about halfway up. You can totally make it in a large skillet like the recipe calls for. I will say, though, the mini skillet fed 4 of us, and we even had some leftovers! I divided the rest of the dough into portions for my mini skillet and ended up with 5 more! I wrapped them individually in wax paper and put them into a freezer ziplock bag for later! Win win! I pretty much always have some sort of cookie dough in the freezer to bake up on the fly! :)

Decor:

Floating lanterns

I found a couple of free printables online that I used to make the lanterns. I used this round version and this square version and printed them in a couple of different sizes (I used the "scale" option on the print settings page to change the percentage & made different sizes.) I should have written down all the sizes I did! I do remember that the smallest size I printed was at 17%.

We cut out the lanterns and used regular tape to put them together. The round ones are super easy; you just tape the ends together. To make the square ones (really, they are more of a rectangle), you have to make 4 folds. 2 on either side of the sun & then 2 more to create the backside and create a rectangle, and then tape the ends on the back! I hope that makes sense! Once you start doing it, I think you'll see what I mean! It's not too hard.

We made 30 lanterns in total, and with 2 people, it went quickly and was actually fun! Especially seeing the finished product!

I used these flickering tealights for each lantern. They come in a package of 24 tealights, & we made 30 lanterns, so I used 6 flameless candles that I already had. For the lanterns I stuck on the wall, we used regular tape to cover the bottom so a tealight would stay inside (I suggest turning the candle on and then sticking it inside the taped lantern. It's a lot harder to try and turn it on through the tape at the bottom! haha) We then used a strip of this double-sided removable mounting tape and stuck them to the wall! - That stuff is now going to be a staple in our home, it's so nifty!

That's pretty much it! The extra details may seem like a lot, but they really made it feel extra magical! As always, if you recreate this, I would love to see it!! Please tag me or send me a pic!!

love always,

Mal
